David Bergman is an ecodesigner, architect, author and professor. He is the founder of DavidBergmanEco, author of Sustainable Design: A Critical Guide and the blog EcoOptimism.com, which is dedicated to the belief that positive, often symbiotic, solutions exist to our environmental and economic issues.

Bergman is the Program Director for the New York School of Interior Design's Master of Sustainable Interior Environments, the only degree program dedicated to sustainable interior design. He also teaches studio, sustainable materials, and a course, Frontiers in Sustainable Interior Environments, which looks at the next 'frontiers' for the interior design profession.

Bergman is also adjunct faculty at Parsons School of Design, teaching since 1995, where he has created courses in sustainable design for multiple departments.

In his professional work, he is an architect, interior designer and consultant, a LEED Accredited Professional, a Certified Passive House Designer (CPHD) and Living Future Accredited. He is also a product designer, having founded an eco-lighting company, Fire & Water.

Recent speaking gigs have included "Teaching Green," a symposium sustainability in design education which he co-chaired.

His work has been featured in numerous publications including The New York Times, Dwell, Metropolis, Architectural Lighting, Interior Designs. In addition to his book and blog, he has authored essays and publications including most recently "Sustainability Districts for NYC: Building an Equitable and Resilient Future," "Communicating Sustainability in Architecture," and "EcoOptimism, or How We Come Out Ahead of the Game."

In his blog, he maintains an extensive and regularly updated database of Single-use Plastics bans and fees worldwide.
