Bob Doppelt is Executive Director of The Resource Innovation Group (TRIG), a sustainability and global climate change education, research, and technical assistance organization affiliated with the Center for Sustainable Communities at Willamette University.

Since 2002 he has also been an adjunct professor in the Department of Planning, Public Policy, and Management at the University of Oregon, where he teaches systems thinking. Trained as both a counseling psychologist and environmental scientist, Doppelt has combined the two fields throughout his career. He is a graduate of the International Program on the Management of Sustainability, Ziest, The Netherlands.

He leads TRIG's Transformational Resilience Program and coordinates the International Transformational Resilience Coalition, a network of over 250 mental health, resilience, and trauma treatment specialists working to build personal and psycho-social-spiritual resilience for the traumas and toxic stresses of climate change.

Earlier in his career, he spearheaded efforts that led the governors of both Oregon and Washington to require state agencies to adopt sustainability plans. He also served on the Western Division of The President's Council on Sustainable Development and on the U.S. EPA National Advisory Council for Environmental Policy and Technology.

He is the author of five books, including Leading Change Toward Sustainability: A Change Management Guide for Business, Government and Civil Society. It was deemed just six months after publication to be one of the ten most important books on sustainability by a Globescan survey of international sustainability experts. In 2015, he was named one of the world's "50 most Talented Social Innovators" by the World CRS Congress.
Doppelt's newest book is Transformational Resilience: How Building Human Resilience to Climate Disruption Can Safeguard Society and Increase Wellbeing. In it, he explains how natural human reactions to the traumas of climate disruption can damage the emotional and social wellbeing of individuals, organizations, communities, and societies. He describes methods that may avoid such harmful reactions and instead use the traumas to find new meaning, direction, and hope.

He speaks and leads workshops on systems thinking, climate change and related organizational change, governance, building human resilience, and personal leadership for sustainability.
